The Aberdeen Area Arts Council sponsors programs that maintain a strong arts environment and make Aberdeen and the surrounding area more livable, creative and prosperous.

Organized in 1969, the Aberdeen Area Arts Council (AAAC) is funded through membership support, grants from the SD Arts Council, the City of Aberdeen, and other grants. A 501c(3) organization, the AAAC works to provide varied programming each year. Programming presented includes annual events such as Arts in the Park, Winterfest, ARCC Dance Program, Storybook Land Theatre, and the Membership Extravaganza. Other events held in the past include Midwest World Fest, Friends of the Arts Awards, Literary Arts Series, Dance-On-Tour, National Symphony Orchestra, Vienna Choir Boys, Nutcracker, and SD Symphony Chamber Orchestra. The AAAC works to promote the arts in Aberdeen by organizing a time each month on a local radio show to talk about the upcoming arts events, maintains a calendar published in the quarterly newsletter, "the Artifacts," as well as facilitate a monthly meeting of those involved in the arts.
