The
Aberdeen Area Arts Council believes educational outreach in
the schools is a vital part of our mission. As we review events
we would like to bring to Aberdeen, we try to book things
that offer educational outreach opportunities.
When we offer outreach activities to the schools,
we do so at no cost to the schools. Some of the outreach offerings
are held in a large theatre where several different schools
can attend at one time. Things like attending a play or a
concert we sometimes take for granted. An elementary music
specialist on her way into the Johnson Fine Arts Center for
an educational outreach presentation once shared that she
knew that it was the first time for several of her students
to be in the theatre…and very well could be a last time.
We know that transportation costs can sometimes
be difficult for schools to cover. In addition to having things
at a larger theatre, we also bring in programming that can
go to the schools.
In addition to outreach opportunities for schools,
we also include opportunities for senior citizens and youth-at-risk
by doing performances in the community or by including them
in performances done for school students.
Following you will find photos of some of the
educational outreach opportunities we have sponsored. |
